Throughout this series you will learn how to make metal chain-link jewelry as well as beaded necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. All materials and tools will be provided and participants will finish the workshop with several pieces of handmade jewelry. All levels of experience are welcome!

Mosaics 101

7pm - 10pm Mosaic is one of the oldest decorative arts, dating back to Greece in the 4th Century B.C.E. But it is not only classic and beautiful – it is also easy and fun! In this class you will learn the fundamentals of mosaic embellishment by designing your own simple project (frame, tray or box) and completing it by the end of the course. All materials and tools will be provided, as will resource materials to spur your creativity! Come and explore this great technique for turning everyday objects into something special!

Knitting is a hobby, an art form, a stress-reliever, and most of all, FUN! Over three weekly sessions, you'll knit a super-easy chunky scarf and cool ribbed hat. All materials and tools will be provided, plus additional patterns and resources to help you get started in the world of knitting.

Bookmaking and paper arts w/ Arts at Michigan

A wide range of paper arts techniques will be explored during this workshop series including bookmaking, photo transfer, and collage. Create your own journals, cards, books, anything you can imagine with paper! All materials and tools are provided. Whether you're looking for a break from studying or just want to add a little creativity to your life, come join us! Also, we should probably include an explanation of the new drop-in friendly format. Watercolor Journaling w/Arts at Michigan

Love to draw? Always wanted to draw? Whatever your skill level, join us for this fun, no-pressure, hands-on workshop -- supplies included. Beginners will learn to use a watercolor kit, pen, and portable water-filled brush to mix colors and create simple graphic records of everyday life. More advanced participants will be provided with examples of other artists’ journals and encouraged to explore and experiment with new styles and techniques. Weekly exercises will introduce all participants to a range of drawing and painting techniques, such as: getting realistic perspective without stressing out; creating a watercolor wash; using table salt to dapple color; hand lettering; making “box pops” and other graphic elements, and much more.
