Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness (SAPAC)

SAPAC serves as the primary resource for the University of Michigan community for survivors of sexual violence. SAPAC offers a wide variety of education and advocacy programs and services and has a large community of volunteers.

Hearing From Students

The SAPAC Advisory Committee is composed of students, faculty, and staff from across the University. Membership is invited. Nominations of potential members are encouraged from departments, units, and student organizations.

The SAPAC Advisory Committee meets at least twice each academic year, once in the fall term and once in the winter term, for 2 hours.

The SAPAC Advisory Committee provides input to the SAPAC Director regarding:

  • Campus awareness levels and needs around sexual violence
  • New program, event, and project ideas
  • Gaps in policies, procedures, protocols that need to be addressed
  • What works well in terms of current SAPAC programs
  • Public relations and media contacts
  • How to reach more people in the U-M community with programs.

The SAPAC Advisory Committee members serve as liaisons between SAPAC and the U-M community and help increase awareness and knowledge about sexual violence in member’s units, departments, colleges, and student organizations.

The SAPAC Advisory Committee provides assistance with volunteer recruitment for SAPAC’s student volunteer programs.

The SAPAC Advisory Committee will help plan SAPAC’s 20-year anniversary celebration in 2006.

SAPAC Advisory Committee members can collaborate on programs, speakers, and events, as opportunities arise.
