Student Activities and Leadership (SAL) Focus Groups

Purpose

The purpose of the SAL focus groups is to provide important student feedback regarding SAL services. Services are provided in three general areas: student leadership education, student organization support, and promoting thoughtful student involvement.

Hearing From Students

Composition and Selection:

SAL focus groups will be made up of volunteers at-large who indicate their interest in participating by responding through salead@umich.edu, or who are invited through our various contact lists (LeaderShape, Leadership Connection, Festifall, Diag scheduling, etc.).

Organization:

Three (3) focus groups will be conducted over the course of the academic year. Each group will target a specific part of SAL’s mission, while also addressing general requests for feedback regarding SAL’s programs and operations. Participants, agendas, supporting materials and minutes will be available in the SAL annual report.

Evaluation:

Evaluation of the focus group process will be part of each focus group. SAL staff will evaluate annually the effectiveness of the focus group based on the aggregate feedback, and any additional feedback from salead@umich.edu

In addition, program-specific information will be gathered through written program evaluations.
