Attached you will find a press release Reader’s Digest issued today regarding safety on college campuses, including rankings of perceived preparedness and crime stats. The U-M received an “A” rating from the magazine for emergency preparedness (we appear as #34 of 135 schools).

On February 15, 2008 at Northern Illinois University, a tragedy happened. Students in a classroom were shot at and dozens were either wounded or killed. The facts are becoming clearer as the investigation unfolds, and you learn of the tragedy, some students may find themselves deeply affected by the violence on a campus very much like our own. The U-M campus community is much like that at NIU, and many U-M students will see and feel the commonality and share the sorrow and fear with other students across the nation and the world. A university student community is just that -- what affects one, affects all.
