Mission: The purpose of the AMS is to promote diversity within the PhD granting programs in the Biomedical Sciences by being advocates for recruitment and retention of underrepresented PhD students. Our main goal is to have our members successfully complete their PhD program. The AMS provides a network for graduate students through various social, academic, and community activities to encourage and support one another towards the common goal of obtaining the PhD degree.
Programs: AMS Welcome picnic for incoming PIBS class and current members Annual Seminar Speaker Series (a person of color is elected by AMS members to give a scientific talk at the University) Hosting the Dessert Social (during PIBS interview weekends) Prelim exam practices Organizing a HOPE activity at the Ypsilanti High School
