Chinmaya Yuvakendra Ann Arbor Constitution

Preamble

The main goal of Chinmaya Yuvakendra Ann arbor is to learn about the spiritual and philosophical aspects of Hinduism.

Article I. Name

This organization is the Chinmaya Yuvakendra Ann arbor (CHYK).

Article II. Purpose

The purpose of CHYK is to provide a study group to discuss Hinduism at a deeper spiritual level.

Article III. Membership

Section 1.

Everyone is elegible to be a member, there are no restrictions.

Section 2.

To become a member, a student must regularly attend meetings. Members are identifyed by ther commitment to the organization.

Section 3.

A member is allowed to withdraw at anytime, for any reason. They must inform the officers that they do not wish to continue with the organization.

Article IV. Officers

Section 1.

There will be two officers for the organization. Their titles are both, Discussion Leader.

Section 2.

The officers will not constitute of an executive committee.

Section 3.

The advisor will be in charge of setting up meeting locations and leading the discussions.

Article V. Operations

Section 1.

Those who have some handle on the material discussed are elegible for office.

Section 2.

The officers are not elected since they are similar to moderators in the discussion.

Section 3.

They assume their positions as soon as the organization is established and starts meeting.

Section 4.

Article VI. Finances

Section 1.

Since the only requirement for the organization is to purchase the book, Self Unfoldment, this will be purchased individually by members.

Section 2.

The Discussion Leaders will be in charge of getting books for the members.

Article VII. Amendments

Section 1.

Ammendments are proposed by bringing them to either discussion leader.

Section 2.

Anyone in the organization can propose an ammendment.

Section 3.

There is no specific amount of time required between the introduction of an ammendment and voting on it. We will conduct a majority vote to see whether or not the rest of the members feel the ammendment is necessary.

Article VIII. Registration Renewal

Section 1.

The CHYK group will be renewed every year on September 1st.

Article IX. Removal of Membership

Section 1.

They will be removed if they are not conducting themselves in a proper manner which includes disrespectful behavior and lack of attendance to meetings.

Section 2.

There will be a voting process to decided whether or not an officer needs to be removed.

Section 3.

A member shall be removed if they are disrespectful to other members or the discussion leaders.

Section 4.

Members will be told by the discussion leaders to either change behavior or not come back to future meetings.
